SELF-CARE, A TABOO FOR THE MALE SPECIES

Self-care is the act of taking care of oneself both physically or mentally without any health- professional help, a term used attributively; "I had a tough day so I'm going to use the next four hours for self-care."

Self-care has existed since time immemorial. However, it has been predominantly and quite ostensibly practiced by the female species. Hence, men have always affiliated the term with ladies, not knowing that they, also, are in dire need of a bit of self-love and self-care.

I think until recently, men have always had a retrogressive attitude towards "self-care". deeming it to portray them as paragons of weakness; especially for society's so-called; "Alpha males".

This has now been proven otherwise; as self-care has now been panned out to be rather integral in the healthy development of the human mind and body.
Few stoic men have practiced different forms of self-care. This is especially popular among athletes and the "Zen" type of people.
From multiple testimonies from the men and teenage boys who have practiced self-care, it seems that self-care accomplishes more good than harm. Love for oneself, I think, goes a long way in promoting self-confidence.

Self-care has been proven to aid the populace out of numerous mental health disorders including depression and anxiety. My psychiatrist recommended that I have a little bit of time to myself. I can say, before my Odyssey with mental health illness,  I was ignorant about such contemporary issues. Well, the neanderthal days are long gone. Your being aloof about self-care as a man in this age puts you in close association with a"tattling termagant".Forgive the acid of my tongue.

How can a man practice self-care?
Well, for starters, start by making your bed. Your bed forms part of your space. As the profound dictum states; "So you want to change the world? Start by making your bed."
Other practices include:working out (strength training is great), spending time with friends and family, practicing yoga and meditation, reading (at least 30 minutes a day), taking a bath daily, and lastly, organizing your space.

Well, if you have not started taking care of yourself, I hope this post will act as a form of coercion for you to reach your ultimate potential.
